ABCDE Youthwright

YouthWright is a yearly playwriting competition sponsored by the ABCDE. Students of teachers who are in good standing with the ABCDE submit plays to be adjudicated by professional playwrights. Winning playwrights receive an invitation to perform at the BC NTS DramaFest in May.

YouthWright 2024 was a great success this year with a record breaking number of student submissions. Thanks to all the teachers who supported your students through the process. Our esteemed adjudicator, John Lazarus read each one, and selected three worthy playwrights to attend feedback meetings.

And the winners are…

Chloe Giroux from Vernon Secondary with the play The Death Monologues

Bella Nybo from Highland Secondary with the play The Melting Point

Ben Anderson from Okanagan Mission with his play The Rhino

The plays can be found in the Scripts section on this page.

Each have received invitations to perform their plays at the BC NTS DramaFest.
